Savage's Curly-Haired Devils
As the Middle East heats up, some prominent liberal Jews have condemned Israel’s response to attacks by Hezbollah and Hamas. A Jewish acquaintance recently complained about Michael Savage’s characterization of these self-loathing liberal Jews as curly-haired-devils. I’m no Michael Savage fan, but I understand why he said what he said. Here’s my response:Savage’s reference to curly-haired devils has to do with behavioral toxicity, not cosmetics. His slur only offends the ethically-challenged. Jews who question Israel’s right to defend itself or it’s right to exist are far worse than non-Jews the same way that domestic saboteurs are more dangerous than declared enemies. Their pathology is likely something akin to the white guilt that Shelby Steele describes.
If Israel doesn’t have the right to exist, what country does? Jews who dismiss their rich history and contributions to humanity for some unwarranted “Palestinian guilt” are much worse than curly-haired devils. And these curly-haired devils expose themselves by expressing their outrage. Curly-haired Zionists are not affected.
The context of his comments was far different from Jesse Jackson’s Hymietown, which offended everyone except guilt-ridden curly-haired devils. Savage’s slur was about ethics and character, NOT ethnic characteristics.
(Do) you realize that Christians desire the End of Days believing that Jewish control of Israel is mandatory for it to occur. They do not support Israel for the same reason that Jews do. Can you understand that? When you are cast into Hell by your Christian fellows, I'll be falling with you. Maybe you and I can see eye-to-eye then.As a lifelong Christian who knows many other lifelong Christians, this is news to me. God casts people into Hell, not Christians – which might be why curly-haired devils would prefer not to believe in God. And if you fear Christians more than God, your faith has gone astray. I’m no rabbi, but I have a pretty good relationship with God. You need to figure out where your faith collapsed.
But let’s focus on the secular issue: If Israel doesn’t have the right to exist, none of us have the right to exist. Those who embrace that nihilism are much worse than curly-haired devils.
