The Alliance for Human Research Protection reminds us that during the second half of the twentieth century, Soviet psychiatrists collaborated with their government: Soviet psychiatrists prescribed the first generation neuroleptics-Haldol and Thorazine- to coerce political dissidents into submission. The drugs were recognized as effective instruments of torture.

In the first half of the twenty-first century, U.S. psychiatrists are prescribing the second generation neuroleptics-Zyprexa, Risperdal, Geodon, Seroquel, Abilfy-to coerce innocent children and the elderly into submission.

After examining more than 40,000 state and federal inspection reports, the Chicago Tribune found that nursing homes ranging from "five-star" establishments along Chicago's North Shore to run-down facilities in urban neighborhoods have been cited for improperly administering psychotropic drugs:

"Frail and vulnerable residents of nursing homes throughout Illinois are being dosed with powerful psychotropic drugs, leading to tremors, dangerous lethargy and a higher risk of harmful falls or even death.

Thousands of elderly and disabled people have been affected, many of them drugged without their consent or without a legitimate psychiatric diagnosis that would justify treatment."

"One man on multiple antipsychotics -- without adequate justification -- fell 68 times in a four-month span. A blind woman who did not consent to taking Risperdal fell five times after being given the medication..."

"At VIP Manor near St. Louis in 2006, a woman with Alzheimer's cried and became extremely anxious when she had to urinate. She also repeatedly asked to go to the bathroom. Nurses responded by giving her injections of two antipsychotics, inspection reports state. When that didn't work, the woman was sent to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. The psychiatrist reported back that the woman had a urinary tract infection."

"Sometimes, when questions are raised about treating a patient with psychotropics, doctors simply change the person's diagnosis.

"At Metropolis Nursing and Rehab Center in Metropolis, near the Kentucky border, a woman arrived with diagnoses of heart disease and kidney problems. Four months later, the woman's dialysis doctor put her on the antipsychotic Risperdal. Her medical records said she was anxious because of being on dialysis, but she had no history of psychosis, according to the state's 2004 citation.

When the home's nursing director asked the doctor what diagnosis led to the use of the antipsychotic drug, the physician told her "insomnia and depression." The nursing director told the dialysis doctor that those issues did not justify prescribing a powerful antipsychotic, so the doctor switched the diagnosis. The new one: "organic psychosis."

European Union Set to Outlaw Objections to Islamic Practices

If all goes as planned, the 27 member states of the European Union will soon have a common hate crime legislation, which will turn disapproval for Islamic practices or homosexual lifestyles into crimes. Europe's Christian churches are trying to stop the plan of the European political establishment, but it is not clear if they will be successful.

Last April, the European Parliament approved the European Union's Equal Treatment Directive.

A directive is the name given to an EU law. As directives overrule national legislation, they need the approval of the European Council of Ministers before coming into effect. Next month, the Council will decide on the directive, which places the 27 EU member states under a common anti-discrimination legislation. The directive's definition of discriminatory harassment is so broad that every objection to Muslim or homosexual practices will be considered unlawful.

On April 2, the European Parliament passed the "directive on implementing the principle of equal treatment between persons irrespective of religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation," 363 votes to 226.

The directive applies to social protection and health care, social benefits, education and access to goods and services, including housing. American citizens and companies doing business in Europe are also required to adhere to it.

Originally intended to serve as an equal treatment directive for the disabled by prohibiting discrimination when accessing "goods and services, including housing," activist European politicians and governments had the directive's scope expanded to include discrimination on the basis of religion, age and sexual orientation.

Under the directive, harassment - defined as conduct "with the purpose or effect of violating the dignity of a person and of creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment" - is deemed a form of discrimination.

Harassment, as vaguely defined in the directive, allows an individual to accuse someone of discrimination merely for expressing something the individual allegedly perceives as creating an "offensive environment." The definition is so broad that anyone who feels intimidated or offended can easily bring legal action against those whom he feels are responsible. Moreover, the directive shifts the burden of proof onto the accused, who has to prove the negative, i.e. demonstrate that he or she did not create an environment which intimidated or offended the complainant. If the accused fails to do so, he or she can be sentenced to paying an unlimited amount of compensation for "harassment." [...]

The same phenomenon, a lack of interest on the part of European and also American public opinion, is apparent with regard to the semi-legal initiatives taken at the level of the United Nations. On October 2nd, the UN Human Rights Council approved a free speech resolution, co-sponsored by the US and Egypt, which criticizes "negative racial and religious stereotyping."

American diplomats said the decision to co-sponsor the resolution was part of America's effort to "reach out to Muslim countries." The resolution passed unanimously, with the support of all Western nations. Though the resolution has no immediate effect in law, it provides Muslim extremists with moral ammunition the next time they feel that central tenets of Islam are being treated disrespectfully through the creation of what they perceive to be an 'offensive environment.'

Government Launches Deceptive Swine Flu Propaganda Blitz

Richard Gale and Gary Null report that the US Government has launched a propaganda blitz to counter growing questions and criticism about the allleged H1N1 pandemic from the scientific and medical communities:

President Obama and his top health officials are engaging in a major public relations effort to divert attention away from whether its swine flu vaccine is effective and safe – to whether there is enough of it to go around. And the media, as always, is cooperating fully. This echoes the way media debate was manipulated during the Vietnam and Iraq Wars. Instead of debating whether we should even be fighting those wars, the media debated only whether we were using the correct military strategy.

Increasing numbers of scientists and doctors are issuing harsh criticisms of the Government’s plan to vaccinate (forcibly if necessary) virtually the entire U.S. population with what they claim is a poorly tested vaccine that is not only ineffective against swine flu, but could cripple and even kill many more people than it helps.

The CDC’s public relations campaign has been running “scare” ads that portray swine flu as a full-blown “pandemic” responsible for snuffing out countless lives, and which, unless stopped by universal vaccination, could kill millions of American citizens.

But scientists and health officials throughout the world have called the governments claims unjustified and deliberately misleading.

For example, Dr. Anthony Morris, a distinguished virologist and former Chief Vaccine Office at the U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA), states that “There is no evidence that any influenza vaccine thus far developed is effective in preventing or mitigating any attack of influenza” and that “The producers of these vaccines know they are worthless, but they go on selling them anyway.”

And in November 2007, the UK newspaper The Scotsman, made public warnings by the inventor of the “flu jab,” Dr. Graeme Laver. Dr. Laver was a major Australian scientist involved in the invention of a flu vaccine, in addition to playing a leading scientific role in the discovery of anti-flu drugs. He went on record as saying the vaccine he helped to create was ineffective and [that] natural infection with the flu was safer. “I have never been impressed with its efficacy,” said Dr. Laver.

We hear the assumption being made by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) that the number of deaths from the H1N1 virus is at pandemic levels and now a “national emergency.” One would assume that with all of its resources, the New York Times’ October 26 front page story on the CDC’s statistics would be accurate: 20,000 hospitalizations and 1,000 deaths due to the swine flu. However, this is all fiction. And it is a fiction solely based upon the CDC’s own contradictory statements and actions.

Our independent investigations into the clinical trials and statistical studies of influenza vaccines reveal glaring discrepancies. Let us not forget that it is this same New York Times, with its “star” reporter Judith Miller, who led America into believing that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction, tried to purchase yellow cake uranium from Niger, and had dealings with al-Qaeda.

And let us also remember that it is the same CDC and health officials in Washington, including President Ford and his top health advisor Joseph Califano, who pushed through and propagandized an untested vaccine during the 1976 swine flu scare, which resulted in thousands of severely neurologically damaged Americans and about 500 reported deaths. Aside from permanent paralysis, many of these vaccine victims also underwent torturous processes for many years to get the government to recognize their illnesses and help cover their costs. Not only was the CDC’s prediction and vaccination campaign for the 1976 flu season a total disaster, it also turned into a deadly scandal, witnessed across the United States on 60 Minutes when Dr. David Sencer, then head of the CDC, confirmed that the vaccine was never field tested, that there were only several reported incidents of H1N1 infection and none of these had been officially confirmed, and then lied about the CDC having no prior evidence that the swine flu vaccine could cause severe and permanent neurological damage.

The end result from the 1976 debacle cost the government $3.5 billion in damages, two-thirds were for severe neurological injury and death directly due to the CDC’s vaccination campaign. Therefore, being anti-vaccine or pro-vaccine is not the most urgent issue. What is critical is whether or not there is legitimate, sound science to support either position; in this regard, the vaccine manufacturers and our federal health agencies have failed in the past, and continue to fail today. And they fail dismally. There is absolutely no evidence for sound-scientific protocol or anything resembling a gold-standard behind the swine flu infection statistics and vaccine efficacy and safety clinical trials to support Obama’s and his health advisors’ claims. Instead, the reports on hospitalizations and deaths due to the H1N1 virus are grossly distorted. What we are really witnessing is “official” science and statistics that are little more than propaganda.

One unfortunate development over the years is the notion that there is such a thing as a “flu season.” The truth is that we move annually into periods where there are dramatic increases in flu-like causing pathogens, however, the majority of these are unrelated to any strain of influenza virus. There can between 150 and 200 different infectious pathogens—adenovirus, rhinovirus, parainfluenza, the very common coronavirus and, of course, pneumonia—that produce flu-like symptoms, and worse, during a “flu season.” For example, how many people have heard of bocavirus, which is responsible for bronchitis and pneumonia in young children, or metapneumovirus, responsible for more than 5 percent of all flu-related illnesses? This is true during every flu season and this year is no different. Furthermore, all flu vaccinations, including the swine flu, are useless for protecting people from these many prevalent infectious organisms.

If we take the combined figure of flu and pneumonia deaths for the period of 2001, and add a bit of spin to the figures, we are left believing that 62,034 people died from influenza. The actual figures determined by Peter Doshi, then at Harvard University, are 61,777 died from pneumonia and only 257 from flu. Even more amazing, among those 257 cases only 18 were confirmed positive for influenza. A separate study conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics for the flu periods between 1979 through 2002 revealed the true range of flu deaths were between 257 and 3006, for an average of 1,348 per year.

The recent CBS Investigative Report, published on October 21, is one example. After the CDC refused to honor CBS’s Freedom of Information request to receive flu infection data for each individual state, the network performed independent outreach to all fifty states to get their statistics. Their report contradicts dramatically the CDC’s public relations blitz. For example, in California, among the approximate 13,000 flu-like cases, 86 percent tested negative for any flu strain. In Florida, out of 8,853 cases, 83 percent were negative. In Georgia and Alaska, only 2.4 percent and 1 percent respectively tested positive for flu virus among all reported flu-like cases. If the infectious-rate ratios obtained by CBS are accurate, the CDC’s figures are significantly reduced and agree with earlier predictions that the H1N1 virus will be simply an unwelcomed annoyance. So we are in the midst of an enormous medical hoax, a design and purpose that has yet to unfold completely, that will nevertheless reap huge revenues for the vaccine industrial complex.

Another example is a recent alarmist report issuing from Georgetown University, also usurped by federal health officials and their multimedia comrades to fuel a campaign of fear and panic. The report announced that over 250 students were infected by swine flu when in fact none of these students were tested for H1N1 infection. The university’s figure was based solely on a count of student visits to the health clinic and calls into an H1N1 hotline.

This is not the first time the CDC’s predictions for influenza strains have been overstated and miscalculated. In an interview on Swedish television, Dr. Tom Jefferson, head of vaccine studies at the prestigious international Cochrane Database Collaboration, after reviewing hundreds of influenza studies and statistical analyses, has said the WHO’s and CDC’s “performance is not very good.”

And in an ITN News interview last month, Jefferson called the swine flu pandemic a “juggernaut they [the WHO, government agencies and vaccine makers] created.” For the 1992-1993 season, the prediction was off by 84 percent. For the 1994-1995 season, it was off 43 percent for the primary strain and off 87 percent and 76 percent for two other strains. The Laboratory Center for Disease Control’s study comparing vaccine strains with the strains appearing during the 1997-1998 season found the match was off by 84 percent. Again Dr. Jefferson in a Der Spiegel interview remarked, “there are some people who make predictions year after year, and they get worse and worse. None of them so far have come about, and these people are still there making these predictions. For example, what happened with the bird flu,
which was supposed to kill us all?.... Swine flu could have even stayed unnoticed if it had been caused by some unknown virus rather than an influenza virus… An influenza vaccine is not working for the majority of influenza-like illnesses because it is only designed to combat influenza viruses. For that reason, the vaccine changes nothing when it comes to the heightened mortality rate during the winter months.”

Our review of all clinical trial studies conducted by the H1N1 vaccine makers for pre-licensing in the American market—CSL, Novartis, Sanofi-Pasteur, Medimmune and now GlaxoSmithKline—reveals they were poorly designed and feebly executed. Any professor in molecular biology or virology would fail a graduate student who presented a paper relying on research conducted in the manner of the studies the vaccine corporations submit to the FDA. Nevertheless, it is this lack of sound randomized, double-blind controlled placebo studies, particularly for inactivated virus vaccines, that our government is declaring definitive and is using to justify mass vaccination of our population.

Last week, Switzerland’s health authorities rejected Novartis’ new swine flu vaccine, Celtura, being targeted for women and children, because the company’s studies were insufficient to guarantee its safety. In addition, the new Novartis vaccine, which uses a cell base from dogs, was found to be contaminated with canine-specific bacteria. The Swiss newspaper, Tagesanzeiger, also noted there remains some suspicion that Novartis’ new vaccine may be a repackaging of an earlier 2008 vaccine responsible for killing almost two dozen homeless people during an illegal clinical trial in Poland. This is the same Novartis whose Fluvirin H1N1 vaccine being distributed in the US relied only on a hasty clinical efficacy and safety trial enrolling only a small number of health adults. Novartis likely remains unperturbed. The Swiss pharmaceutical giant has reported a $6.1 billion profit so far this year and expects to boost sales for the final quarter with is swine flu vaccine.

In July, the CDC announced it would cease testing and counting H1N1 virus infections. Their public reason was simply that they are convinced there is a pandemic and, therefore, accurate monitoring was unnecessary. On August 30, the CDC declared the states should report influenza and pneumonia-associated hospitalizations and deaths together, not singling out actual cases of H1N1 infection if there happen to be any actually confirmed from a laboratory. This has always been the CDC’s policy, and the 36,000 figure of annual flu deaths repeated ad nausea on their website and spewed from the media’s health pulpits for several years straight, does not distinguish between pneumonia, influenza and other flu-like pathogenic deaths. Perhaps it would make very little difference because the current rapid diagnostic tests for the H1N1 virus can range in only 10-50 percent accuracy.

Elsewhere in the world, particularly in Europe, civilians are increasingly rejecting the H1N1 vaccine. Recent polls in Germany and Austria show only 13 and 18 percent respectively willing to take the shot. In Sweden, four vaccine related deaths have been announced and almost 200 healthcare workers have reported becoming more seriously ill from the vaccination than they might have from a flu infection. In the US, anywhere from 90-99 percent of adverse events go unreported.

If people would simply shut off the CDC’s supported propaganda noise being blasted across the airwaves and newspapers— the spectacle of newscasters being inoculated, interviews with government health officials or private doctors and academics receiving consultation fees from drug makers, and the drivel of the New York Times—and simply do their homework, Americans would wake up and realize the hoax behind the swine flu pandemic. All of the information is before us. Nothing is hidden. All the contradictions and hypocrisies are contained within the massive vaccine industrial complex—including the government health agencies and professional medical associations. The lie is too large for them to not expose themselves if we simply look.

Six months after beginning the drug treatments, Karri begins to feel the effects of the drugs. She's told by her clinician that her symptoms are related to HIV and AIDS, not the drugs.

During the next four years, Karri suffers serious side effects from the drugs. Note the loss of hair and pale complexion. Clinicians tell her that these are the effects of HIV and AIDS and NOT the drugs.

In December 2006, Karri shows the classic symptoms and appearance of "full blown AIDS." This is what she looked like after a decade of AIDS drugs.


In 2007, Karri's husband discovered Peter Duesberg's questions about HIV. After reviewing the research that her clinicians refused to provide to her, Karri stopped the drugs. Her reaction was cosistent with the classic signs of withdrawal from addictive drugs like alcohol, cocaine and methamphetamines. The worst of those withdrawal symptoms lasted four months. When she saw her clinician, he told her she would die from AIDS within a few months.

Based upon these photos and Karri's story, it's hard to ignore the political benefits of Karri's medical poisoning. When healthy heterosexual women supposedly acquire HIV, their treatment with deadly and highly addictive drugs mimic many of the same side effects that promiscuous gay crystal meth addicts suffer. Had Karri died from the drugs, her doctor would have used her mortality to promote the mythology that AIDS threatens ordinary Americans.

Karri's survival and recovery suggests that her disease was political, not medical.

More Research Corruption Exposed - Whistleblower Fired

AHRP reports more regarding the ethical violations at a community-based scientific research facility. The Carle Foundation Hospital is one of 400 federally designated community research sites comprising a network of 3,400 participating physicians. These sites amass more data about cancer research than at any of the giant cancer centers like Memorial Sloan Kettering. Yet, according to a New York Times report (below), "federal officials have never conducted a systematic review of the community research program."

A federal investigation of the Carle Cancer Center ( an affiliate of the Carle Foundation) was prompted by complaints to the federal Office of Human Research Protections (OHRP) about the science and safety of patients at the Center. In particular, the trials overseen by the Center's principle investigator, oncologist, Dr. Kendrith Rowland, who has simultaneously overseen more than 130 clinical trials in more than 20 cancer types.

According to a grant application, the Times reports, Dr. Rowland personally enrolled about one-quarter of the 500 patients that Carle signed up for experimental treatment in a typical year.

The complaint to OHRP was made by the hospital's vice president for research, Dr. Suzanne Stratton who found that instead of informed patient consent, doctors too often promoted trial treatments as superior to standard approaches, even when there was no supporting evidence.

Researchers who enrolled patients into clinical trials by misleading them about the experimental nature of the trial have embraced a cynical defense strategy invented by a pillar of American psychiatry, Dr. Paul Appelbaum, who coined a concept that shifted the blame for misconstruing experimental treatment with proven therapy, onto patients. Dr. Appelbaum proclaimed that patients suffer from a "therapeutic misconception."

However, surveys have shown that not only patients, but referring doctors mistakenly believe that research offers individual patients a direct therapeutic benefit--those seeking patients as human subjects have planted false expectations of direct benefit.

So far, the Times reports, OHRP has issued two letters of criticism - one in June, the second in September - to the nonprofit Carle Foundation Hospital and its affiliated for-profit cancer center.

The investigation has far broader implications for cancer research-beyond Carle. Dr. Stratton stated: "I have concerns not just about patient safety, but the integrity of the data in the trials. My larger concern is that there may be other community hospitals doing research that, like Carle, evolved in a vacuum."

The investigation could call into question the scientific evidence that the community research programs generally amass.

Indeed, Dr. Lori Minasian, director of the National Cancer Institute's community clinical oncology program, said the agency would apply any lessons from Carle's human research violations "across the entire network" of community hospitals and doctors. "We'll look at audits, organizational structure and research oversight."

The Times reports that an outside audit that led to Dr. Statton's showdown meeting with hospital administrators, found instances of patients having received incorrect doses of drugs, while others were given chemotherapy before, rather than after, the required lab tests. And one patient was enrolled in a study despite having an implanted brain device that, according to the audit, should have disqualified him for safety reasons.

Like most institutional review boards-which are supposed to review research protocols to ensure patient safety and ethical standards-Carle's IRB was too deferential to the researchers, failing to examine protocols to ensure ethical and safety standards were met.

For her conscientious action, alerting OHRP about gross scientific and safety violations, Dr. Stratton was fired, and ushered out of the hospital later that same day. (Story here)

Researcher Reports HIV Difficult to Spread Sexually

Liam Scheff has more questions for the pharmaceutical industry and Wikipedia:

Who is Nancy Padian, and why is her study – the longest and best on HIV transmission – censored from the Wikipedia pages on both HIV and AIDS? Why does Dr. Padian’s own Wikipedia page censor all of her findings?

As part of her 10-year study on HIV transmission, Dr. Nancy Padian enrolled 175 couples, one partner HIV-positive, one HIV-negative. These individuals had sex – vaginal and anal – with and without condoms over the study period. They were continuously tested. Drug abusers were kept out of the study, to emphasize the role of sex in transmission.

The results: At the end of the study, how many people who tested negative became positive, after repeated sexual intercourse with their HIV-positive partners?

Was it 50?

Was it 25?

Was it 20?

No.

The answer is – Zero. Zero people who tested negative became positive.

From the study:

“We observed no seroconversions after entry into the study [nobody became HIV positive]… This evidence argues for low infectivity in the absence of either needle sharing and/or other cofactors.”

Nancy Padian:

“I think HIV is more difficult to transmit than other sexually-transmitted – than a lot of, probably most other sexually-transmitted diseases. I mean, I think that’s pretty widely known.“

Is it “pretty widely known,” Doctor Padian?

It is now.

On this anniversary of Martin Luther’s Reformation of the Catholic Church, Andrew Bostom reviews Wafa Sultan’s new book A God Who Hates:

On Tuesday, October 13, 2009, an ominous interim decision was reached in the case of 17 year- old Sri Lankan native, and Christian "apostate" from Islam, Rifqa Bary. Rifqa fled her Ohio community -- notably, the radicalized mosque she was compelled to attend, which revealed and condemned her apostasy. She sought refuge in Orlando, Florida, when Muhammad Bary, Rifqa's father threatened to murder the young Muslim woman apostate-the consensus draconian punishment for "unrepentant" apostasy from Islam sanctioned by all major schools of Islamic jurisprudence, Sunni and Shiite alike, to this day. Pending determination of her parent's immigration status-extant public access documentary evidence revealed by investigative journalist par excellence Pamela Geller indicates they are illegal aliens-Florida judge Daniel Dawson has ordered that Rifqa Bary be returned to Ohio under the jurisdiction of an Ohio court.

It is a bitter irony that Tuesday, October 13, 2009 also marked the US release of Syrian-born psychiatrist Wafa Sultan's book "A God Who Hates" -- the vigorously argued jeremiad written by our era's most courageous and insightful secular Muslim woman. Sultan is currently forced to lead a clandestine existence here in America, due to the repeated, ongoing death threats she receives for her own "apostasy," including those "inspired" by a Yusuf al-Qaradawi appearance on Al-Jazeera television when he proclaimed, "...this woman had the audacity to affront all that is sacred-the entire Islamic nation, its past, its present, and its future. She had the audacity to affront the Prophet, the Koran, and Allah. She even said that Allah prattles in the Koran. She did not omit anything sacred."

More than two decades before Wafa Sultan's Al-Jazeera television debate with a Muslim cleric ignited an international firestorm, she traced her own transformative "intellectual shock" to reading two books by Saudi writer and freethinker Abdullah al-Qasimi, who fled his native country after being (predictably) condemned to death for "apostasy/blasphemy." Regarding al-Qasimi's criticism of Islam, Wafa Sultan observes that he, ...attacked Islam...in such a way as to make the closed mind stop and really think. He was an original and creative writer with an excellent command of Arabic. His style was enjoyable to read and easy to understand, and it led his readers almost imperceptibly to the point where they could not help but agree with him, at least privately. The fact that he was from Saudi Arabia, the cradle of Islam, gave him another kind of authenticity.

She describes how al-Qasimi's taboo writings were privately shared:

His books were not readily available, but we found a way to get copies and share them. I remember a young woman in her early twenties at the hospital where I worked once confessed to me secretly that she read Al-Qasimi's works, and asked if she could borrow one of them from me. I wrapped the book in one of my dresses to conceal it and, as I gave it to her, made a great show of telling her she could wear the dress to her sister's wedding on condition she return it afterwards... Report from Samoa

Shortly after disaster struck American Samoa, Linda Halderman dropped what she was doing to assist in the humanitarian effort. This is her first report:

It's Saturday night in Pago Pago. As I write this from a little tropical hospital in the middle of the Pacific ocean on a tiny island called American Samoa, I'm trying hard to make sense of the last 72 hours.

I remember sleeping at one point, eating some Ramen noodles yesterday and wondering often--but without much interest--if it was light or dark outside. I can't wrap my brain around what has happened, so I'll just report it and let you make your own assessment.

For almost ten days, I watched my 5-year-old patient as he healed from Dengue Fever and a set of superimposed infections (heart, both lungs, entire abdomen, blood and urine), any one of which could have taken his life.

But he had so many medical victories. Three days ago, I sat with him on the regular Pediatric ward and watched him play with his brothers and eat Bongos (a Samoan version of Cheetos...yuck) and smile at me.

He breathed the same air I did, needing no extra oxygen or any of the dozens of treatments he had required when I first arrived on the island. I had drained infected fluid from around his heart three hours into my assignment at the LBJ Tropical Medical Center.

And he was getting better! No tubes, no ICU, no beeping machines. Just a little boy recovering nicely, surrounded by parents and siblings who spoiled him.

For the past three days, I have watched my 5-year-old patient try to die.

Three days ago, I walked by his bed on the Pediatric ward and was stunned. He was short of breath and miserable. The muscles between his ribs were visibly moving in and out, trying to keep his lungs full of air. By 4 o'clock in the morning, he was on a ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit... (Story here)

In the early 1980’s, while an acting Capo in the Colombo family, I as introduced to Reverend Al Sharpton by Julie and Roy Rifkin, two brothers who owned an R & B record label in NYC called Spring records. The Rifkins would hire the Reverend Al to steer black recording artists to sign with their label. He wasn’t in the best financial condition at the time and offered his services to me should I ever need someone with influence in the black community. He told me he was a person to be trusted and that he was a close associate of Genovese family capo, Danny Pagano. I told him I would keep that in mind. As it turns out, I would later reach out to the Reverend Al to arrange a meeting for me with Don King to discuss doing some co-promotions with two aspiring fight promoters with whom I had recently become involved. Before approaching Sharpton, I did contact Pagano and asked him about the Reverend. He told me that Sharpton was “a gun for hire” and would deliver his people to me for a price; in the same way he delivered black artists to the record labels. I later met with Sharpton, introduced him to the two fight promoters and told him to arrange a meeting with Don King. (More here)

NIH Excluded Sickened Pregnant Women from Vaccine Studies

Before you subject yourself or your children to flu vaccines (or any others), listen to Gary Null PhD’s testimony this month before the New York State Assembly.

Of the thousands of peer reviewed studies reviewed, there is no convincing evidence that any vaccine have long term, double blind placebo controlled study trials. Fifty percent of those sitting on the FDA/CDC Vaccine Advisory Program were from vaccine manufacturers.

According to Dr. Null, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) recently announced two efficacy and safety trials under way, one for pregnant women and another for healthy adults with asthma. Those studies included no control group. Pregnant women who suffered from temperature spikes of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher within 72 hours of receiving a shot were excluded from the study that was meant to study the negative effects of the vaccine in pregnant women!

The whole idea is that if a pregnant woman has a vaccine and she has a temperature you immediately say that is a causative action that must be considered and examined. You’re going to exclude her? This is a fixed study... absolutely scientific fraud.

Dr. Null found 132,000 lawsuits that drug company executives have paid for price fixing, falsifying scientific data and skewing studies, knowing ahead of time that their drugs were dangerous and that injuries and death are nothing more than the cost of doing business. Vioxx alone caused 43,000 deaths and injured 125,000 and yet they settled their lawsuit for $4.85 billion dollars and their stock went up.

Where else than in America can you kill 43,000 people and get a raise? These are the same people who advise Americans of the drugs and vaccines they should be taking.

Do Democrats Plan to Control the Internet?

Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-W.V.) has introduced legislation that would transfer even more power from the people and the Congress to the Executive Branch of Government. The legislation is supposedly designed to promote cybersecurity, but it has little to do with protecting government sites such as those in the Pentagon from cyber attacks by our enemies. Instead, it targets the private use of the Internet by millions of Americans every day.

There are two key provisions of the bill and both of them contain direct assaults on freedom of speech and the press. First, the law would allow President Obama to seize control of privately operated Internet networks during a "Cyber Emergency." What is a "Cyber Emergency?" There is no definition of it in the legislation so it is essentially anything the President decides. He can shut down massive portions of the Internet at any time for any reason.

The bill also allows the Executive Branch to control the Internet by requiring that certain operators of networks that are deemed "critical" by the government must be operated by “professionals” licensed by the government. The definitions of the terms “critical” and “professionals” are again left entirely to the Obama Administration.

Michael Connelly is a retired constitutional lawyer and former military intelligence officer who saw same form of Internet control exercised in Iran when protests broke out after a clearly fraudulent election. Do Democrats plan to do the same thing against the United States? What would happen to our efforts to petition the government for “a redress of our grievances” if we were denied the means to communicate with each other?

H1N1 Nose Spray Spreads Flu

Bureaucrats have decided that squirting an active virus up a child’s nose is a vaccination. That child will be infected and will shed the active virus for several days everywhere the child goes. This guarantees the spread of the virus. We are told that this is a good idea. Career respiratory therapist Robert Klassen says it's a lie.

More Questions About HIV, H1N1 & Deadly Vaccines

In a story that further illustrates the disarray and confusion about the pharmaceutical industry, vaccinations and AIDS, a leading cancer researcher now blames Merck and the military for producing vaccines that spread AIDS and cause cancer. Since many nutritional, behavioral, environmental and pathogenic cofactors (including toxic vaccines) can cause an acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), this story corroborates HIV co-discoverer Luc Montagnier’s opinion that anyone can recover from HIV without AIDS drugs.

Dr. Michele Carbone, Director of the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii, and full Professor and Chairman, Department of Pathology at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, openly acknowledged HIV/AIDS was spread by the hepatitis B vaccine produced by Merck & Co. during the early 1970s.

This is the first time since the initial transmissions took place in 1972-74, that a leading expert in the field of vaccine manufacturing and testing has openly admitted the Merck & Co. liability for AIDS.

The matter-of-fact disclosure came during discussions of polio vaccines contaminated with SV40, the fortieth simian (monkey) virus discovered that caused cancer in nearly every species infected by injection. Many authorities now admit much, possibly most, of the world’s cancers came from the Salk and Sabin polio vaccines, and hepatitis B vaccines, produced in monkeys and chimps.

“There is no question that the FDA is much more vigilant today than it was 40 years ago,” Dr. Carbone wrote. “I guess they learned the lesson from the SV40 mess.

Although his opinion about the dangers of HIV conflicts with Dr. Montagnier’s findings, Professor Carone wrote that many people, “received hepatitis vaccines contaminated with HIV.”

If those who received the vaccine already suffered from an immune system that was compromised by environmental, behavioral or pathological co-factors, chances are that iatrogenically-introduced vaccines will further compromise the immune systems of those who receive them.

This could also produce a multi-billion dollar motive for pharmaceutical manufacturers (and universities like Harvard that rely on pharmaceutical funding to keep their doors open) to “discover” innocuous or non-existent viruses to blame for thousands of preventable deaths each year.

The fact that Harvard University just lost $1.8 billion in reckless investments only adds to that motive.

Dr. Carbone further stated:

“I do believe – and hope – that the present vaccines are safe and clean, and this is partly based on my experience in testing polio vaccines prepared in the Western world after 1963, neither I nor anybody in the world can assure you that with 100% confidence.”

Also engaged in the discussion was Rev. Roxanne Hampton, who sourced the legislative resolution urging passage of vaccination exemptions for religious persons in the State of Hawaii and elsewhere. Rev. Hampton raised the question of vaccine makers’ reliability, to which Dr. Carbone responded.

Dr. Leonard G. Horowitz, a vaccine risk investigator and author of sixteen books including Emerging Viruses: AIDS & Ebola–Nature, Accident or Intentional? was also invited to reply to the question of H1N1 safety testing.

“Dr. Carbone’s testimony is very important,” Dr. Horowitz said, addressing the little-known fact that “1) HIV was spread via the earliest hepatitis B vaccines, and 2) Despite the most advanced intelligence in vaccine science, there is no certainty that benefits outweigh risks, since the full extent of H1N1 vaccine risks are not known.

“Without certainty, and the past history, it is my humble opinion,” Dr. Horowitz added, “you would have to be a complete fool to trust the people that promote getting vaccinated this flu season (or any flu season for that matter).”

Dr. Horowitz went on to address the problem of lacking confidence in the H1N1 vaccines by considering those who manufactured the fright and these viral vaccines. ”

Regarding #1, it is gross criminal negligence that Dr Carbone’s factual statement has never been adequately investigated or acknowledged by anyone with authority in the four groups that produced that horrible HIV-contaminated hepatitis B vaccine, manufactured using chimpanzees (not VERO cell cultures contaminated with SV40, as Baxter Corp. is doing for some of its H1N1 flu vaccines).”

Dr. Horowitz cited the FDA, CDC, NIAID, and Merck & Co. as responsible for the production of the hepatitis B vaccines that massive evidence suggests triggered AIDS.

“This evidences gross official criminal malfeasance at the highest levels of health science and the US Government,” Dr. Horowitz charged. He then went on to discuss the earlier pan-genocide as it relates to today’s H1N1 pandemic:

“At that time 1972-74, Dr. David Sencer was the CDC director who was very knowledgeable about this hep B vaccine investigation by NY University Medical Center researcher, Saul Krugman, et. al. His collaborators were at the New York City (NYC) Blood Bank, including Wolf Szmuness.

“Dr. Sencer was also the CDC director who authorized the Public Health Service to conduct the Tuskeegee Syphilis study.

“As HIV-was out-breaking in NYC (and due to this same vaccine in Africa and Willowbrook State School for mentally retarded children on Staten Island, NY) Dr. Sencer was “demoted” to go from Atlanta, and transition from CDC director, to become the Health Department Director for the City of New York. This was done so that he could oversee the propaganda for damage control at the New York Blood Bank, created and controlled by the Rockefeller family (including Sen. Jay Rockefeller advancing the Senate Democratic Party’s health care reform plan).

“Dr. Sencer was successful in preventing safety testing of the contaminated blood.

This intended delay, according to medical historians and lawsuits, spread HIV/AIDS internationally along with the herpes type viruses, including Epstein Barr causally-linked to several cancers and immune dysfunctions.

“Also at that time, as Willowbrook children were dying of the ‘abuse’ Geraldo Rivera was reporting, and Dr. Sencer was transitioning from CDC to the NYC Health Dept., in neighboring Fort Dix, New Jersey, a mysterious Swine flu outbreak occurred in military personnel, none of whom had any contact with pigs. That virus had been, according to experts, extinct for two decades.

“The 1976-1977 outbreak was most likely a military experiment, and precisely like the 2009 Mexican H1N1 outbreak in its media propaganda. The media promoted the 1976 Swine Flu campaign that was devastating in its side effects and adverse events including Guillain-Barre, that my mother died from, linked to this vaccination.

In 1977, the swine flu outbreak has been widely acknowledged by top officials, including Dr. Sencer himself, to have been “laboratory sourced.” Dr. Sencer wrote in a CDC publication, that this swine flu outbreak came from “a refrigerator.”

“In 1997, it was Dr. Sencer who led the team of virologists to Alaska, against international outrage and protests from leading scientists. He and his team, under top secret security, resurrected the 1918 Spanish flu virus and genetically reconstructed it. This was the virus said to have killed 50 million people worldwide. At that moment, it was a no-brainer for all these protesting scientists, that this virus would outbreak from containment in a high level security "refrigerator."

“H1N1 currently circulating, carries genes from this virus! Since this virus had gone extinct, and only existed in military labs, it is safe to say its genes were recombined with avian H1N1 and swine H1N1 to give you this never-before-seen “reassortant”– the 2009 H1N1 pandemic.

“Now it was Reuter’s News Service, Thomas Glocer, Editor-in-Chief that broke world news in April regarding the Mexican outbreak. Thomas Glocer’s propaganda alleged H5N1 was possibly in this mix–a virus that kills 60% of humans infected. Thomas Glocer is a Director, on the Board of Directors, of Merck & Co. owner of CSL, Inc. the H1N1 Swine Flu vaccine maker that provided the world’s safety testing and assurances of vaccine safety for pregnant women, babies, and children.

“These safety tests were conducted in Australia at the Victoria Women’s Hospital directed by Elisabeth Murdoch, Rupert Murdoch’s mother. The children were tested at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute under the direction of Sarah Murdoch, Rupert’s daughter-in-law. FOX, Time Warner, and more are controlled by Murdoch. This GROSS CONFLICTING INTEREST would stun the world; yet it is not being reported at all in mainstream media despite my best efforts.

“The other day, Dr. Oz told America on ABC that everyone needs to get vaccinated. The financier behind ABC-Disney is Lloyd Blankfein. Thomas Glocer, Rupert Murdoch, and Lloyd Blankfein are David Rockefeller’s partners in Partnership for New York City, the world’s premier biotechnology trust, advancing “genetopharmaceuticals”–vaccines for everything. These are the people that dictate what people like Dr. David Sencer and Dr. Anthony Fauci (NIAID AIDS Czar, premier promoter of H1N1 Flu vaccines) say and do.

“By the way, Dr. Fauci joined Dr. Oz on ABC the other day as “the government’s leading flu vaccine expert.” Dr. Fauci, the co-patent holder, and royalty earner for IL-2, a vaccine adjuvant, did not disclose his conflicting interest, nor the amount of money he has been paid for IL-2’s use in vaccines. Nor did Dr. Oz who, in his book, urged readers to examine ingredients carefully prior to consuming products. The fact is, the ingredients of the H1N1 flu vaccines are not listed in the package inserts. One needs to go to their patents to find them.

“Suffice it to say, only mentally-manipulated fools think these vaccines are safe. Further only downright idiots would consent to getting vaccinated this flu season having the aforementioned intelligence.” (more info HERE)

The New Klan

“It's hard to talk when you're tea-bagging.”

When CNN’s Anderson Cooper dismissed tea party patriots as tea-baggers last April, few people understood the joke. But to Cooper, the image of one man squatting over another man’s mouth was a hilarious way to attack those who voice legitimate questions about the Obama Administration’s competence. Unlike Cooper, most Americans don’t consider such behavior as normal or funny, leaving his joke to connect only with the heterophobes that comprise his fringe audience.

More recently, when Democrat Warren Ballentine told Juan Williams to go back to the porch, people hardly noticed the blatant racial attack. But if we consider Ballentine’s unwavering support for the political party that opposed the end of slavery and empowered the Ku Klux Klan to enforce Jim Crow and opposed passage of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments (and 16 other Republican-sponsored civil rights bills for more than 100 years), Ballentine shapes up as something less than the civil rights advocate he claims to be. If we consider his defense of the political party that continues to cripple and kill black children in Democrat-controlled ghettos and multi-billion dollar school districts throughout the US, Ballentine’s epithet becomes as perverse as Cooper’s tea-bag joke. To give legitimacy to both, androgynies like Janeane Garofalo and Richard Belzer shape the epithets into crosses that the media burns on websites, newspapers and television sets throughout America.

As members of the New Klan, Cooper, Ballentine, Garofalo, Belzer and their cohorts have replaced their white sheets and pointy hats with a crazy quilt of racial, sexual and social alchemy. Anonymized by their new hoods, these Klansmen defend their pathologies by attacking legitimate questions as examples of intolerance toward larger populations of responsible Americans, which the pro-Klan media claims they represent. In this way, shrews like Garofalo evoke suffrage and heterophobes conjure bigotry, while Ballentine attacks Juan Williams from the comfort of the Democrat Party’s front porch.

As America’s most unrepentant Republican, Rush Limbaugh has become the Klan’s most hated enemy. When he declared his hope to buy a football team this week, the Klansmen mobilized for Limbaugh’s lynching. Like Bob Ewell’s charges against Tom Robinson, the Klansmen assumed that their riot could force a hanging regardless of Limbaugh’s innocence. If Limbaugh was the racist they claim, the evidence would be as easy to find as Jeremiah Wright and the Klan would not have needed to fake their evidence. Despite the thousands of recorded radio broadcasts and speeches, the New Klan produced nothing more than unproven lies and an opinion that was a dangerous as Mayella’s kiss.

When NFL Players Association Director DeMaurice Smith learned of Limbaugh’s intent, the former Obama advisor joined the lynch mob that attacked Limbaugh as an unapologetic racist while other Klansmen cheered them on. As the cross burned on Limbaugh’s front lawn, Juan Williams stepped forward to douse the flames.

Like Republicans and ex-slaves who dared to defend themselves from the old Klan, Limbaugh and Williams were lynched as a warning to those who expose the Party for what it has always been. On this 150th anniversary of John Brown’s attack at Harper’s Ferry, America is witness to a Democrat Party that has transformed itself from the bigoted and segregationist organization it once was into a political party that no longer prohibits house Negroes, tea-baggers and deranged women from joining their Klan.

As the New Klan celebrates their androgynous multi-colored tea-baggers, it will be hard to forget how the content of Dr. Williams’ character outshined them all.

Another Nobel Laureate Exposes AIDS Clerics

As if Nobel Laureates Walter Gilbert, Kary Mullis, Linus Pauling and 2600 other nominees, investigators and scientists weren’t enough, 2008 Nobel Laureate Luc Montagnier MD has broken ranks to expose HIV and AIDS as little more than a pharmaceutical marketing scam. As one of two alleged co-discovers of HIV, how clerics like John Moore and others defend themselves from Montagnier’s charges will be interesting to see.

Montagnier: We can be exposed to HIV many times without being chronically infected… our immune system will get rid of the virus within a few weeks if you have a good immune system.

Brent Leung: If you have a good immune system then your body can naturally get rid of HIV?

Montagnier: Yes.

Brent Leung: If you take a poor African who’s been infected and you build up her immune system is it also possible for them to also naturally get rid of it?

Montagnier: I would think so… It’s important knowledge, which is completely neglected. People always think of drugs and vaccine.

Brent Leung: There’s no money in nutrition, right?

Montagnier: There’s no profit, yes.

While the documentary House of Numbers (HON) continues to shock audiences around the world, pharmaceutical marketers continue to incite the gay inquisition against the film and those who promote it. As described in previous reports, most of these radicals are supported by the makers of HIV tests and drugs and predators like George Soros who exploit them.

In many ways, HIV has become the de facto religion of the radical gay movement that parades under the pretext of human rights – as if cross-dressing, gay sex and crystal meth somehow equate to the abolition of slavery.

The AIDS Church requires believers to evangelize Robert Gallo’s unproven assumptions about HIV (1, 2, 3, 4) and subject themselves to a baptism of HIV tests. Once confirmed, believers receive a sacramental cocktail of highly addictive psychotropic drugs and DNA inhibitors so that members can suffer and die for their church just like Jesus.

Thankfully, the vast majority of men and woman (gay and straight) know better than to subject themselves to the church’s social marketing schemes – which may be why the Academy of Education Development and pharmaceutical companies are now paying ex-celebrities like Blair Underwood and Magic Johnson to target their own vulnerable communities.

Montagnier and Gallo are only two of the highly paid clerics who make fools of themselves throughout the documentary. It would be comedic, except that these clerics are complicit in the deliberate and unnecessary sickness and death of millions around the world – drug-caused mortality that continues to be used to perpetuate a fake epidemic that the American Medical Association cannot substantiate.

Years from now, researchers and students will watch recordings of those clerics with the same fascination we now share for humanity’s other historical monsters. Our amazed progeny will ask themselves, “How could millions of people around the world fall for such a transparent lie?"

The Speech Obama Will Never Speak

Thomas Friedman has written the Nobel acceptance speech that Barak Obama's supporters will never allow him to speak:

Let me begin by thanking the Nobel committee for awarding me this prize, the highest award to which any statesman can aspire. As I said on the day it was announced, ‘I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who’ve been honored by this prize.’ Therefore, upon reflection, I cannot accept this award on my behalf at all.

But I will accept it on behalf of the most important peacekeepers in the world for the last century — the men and women of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps.

I will accept this award on behalf of the American soldiers who landed on Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944, to liberate Europe from the grip of Nazi fascism. I will accept this award on behalf of the American soldiers and sailors who fought on the high seas and forlorn islands in the Pacific to free East Asia from Japanese tyranny in the Second World War.

I will accept this award on behalf of the American airmen who in June 1948 broke the Soviet blockade of Berlin with an airlift of food and fuel so that West Berliners could continue to live free. I will accept this award on behalf of the tens of thousands of American soldiers who protected Europe from Communist dictatorship throughout the 50 years of the cold war.

I will accept this award on behalf of the American soldiers who stand guard today at outposts in the mountains and deserts of Afghanistan to give that country, and particularly its women and girls, a chance to live a decent life free from the Taliban’s religious totalitarianism.

I will accept this award on behalf of the American men and women who are still on patrol today in Iraq, helping to protect Baghdad’s fledgling government as it tries to organize the rarest of things in that country and that region — another free and fair election.

I will accept this award on behalf of the thousands of American soldiers who today help protect a free and Democratic South Korea from an unfree and Communist North Korea.

I will accept this award on behalf of all the American men and women soldiers who have gone on repeated humanitarian rescue missions after earthquakes and floods from the mountains of Pakistan to the coasts of Indonesia. I will accept this award on behalf of American soldiers who serve in the peacekeeping force in the Sinai desert that has kept relations between Egypt and Israel stable ever since the Camp David
treaty was signed.

I will accept this award on behalf of all the American airmen and sailors today who keep the sea lanes open and free in the Pacific and Atlantic so world trade can flow unhindered between nations.

Finally, I will accept this award on behalf of my grandfather, Stanley Dunham, who arrived at Normandy six weeks after D-Day, and on behalf of my great-uncle, Charlie Payne, who was among those soldiers who liberated part of the Nazi concentration camp of Buchenwald.

Members of the Nobel committee, I accept this award on behalf of all these American men and women soldiers, past and present, because I know — and I want you to know — that there is no peace without peacekeepers.

Until the words of Isaiah are made true and lasting — and nations never again lift up swords against nations and never learn war anymore — we will need peacekeepers. Lord knows, ours are not perfect, and I have already moved to remedy inexcusable excesses we’ve perpetrated in the war on terrorism.

But have no doubt, those are the exception. If you want to see the true essence of America, visit any U.S. military outpost in Iraq or Afghanistan. You will meet young men and women of every race and religion who work together as one, far from their families, motivated chiefly by their mission to keep the peace and expand the borders of freedom.

So for all these reasons — and so you understand that I will never hesitate to call on American soldiers where necessary to take the field against the enemies of peace, tolerance and liberty — I accept this peace prize on behalf of the men and women of the U.S. military: the world’s most important peacekeepers.

Obama's Top Immigration Selectee Investigated for Embezzlement

Debbie Schlussel reports that Obama’s top immigration agent selectee is under investigation for alleged embezzlement and/or misuse of ICE funds used in undercover operations.

Robert Schoch and the Los Angeles Deputy Special Agent in Charge, Jennifer Silliman, were escorted from the ICE federal offices in Long Beach, California, and their badges and guns were taken from them (standard procedure when an agent is under investigation and put on leave). They were both put on administrative leave pending a continuing investigation. A search warrant was reportedly executed on Agent Schoch’s home, and sources say his computers from both his LAX and Long Beach offices were seized.

This is not unprecedented. During the 1980s, then-Mayor Tom Bradley forced the LAPD to hire felons like Rafael Perez and David Mack (Rampart) under the pretext of affirmative action. While wearing LAPD uniforms, both did what felons do and the media was happy to help LA’s corrupt politicians blame the LAPD for Bradley’s sabotage.

By appointing someone whose behavior may not be above reproach, Obama can do to US immigration agencies and policy what he’s doing to the US economy and wants to do to healthcare. By creating a crisis, he can fill the vacuum with whatever he wants.

In another case of doctors selling their names to the pharmaceutical industry for ghostwriting purposes, the Guardian reports that Professor Richard Eastell is being tried in front of a medical council for allowing his name to be put on a study of the osteoporosis drug Actonel.

Doctors have been agreeing to be named as authors on studies written by employees of the pharmaceutical industry, giving greater credibility to medical research, according to new evidence.

The Guardian has learned that one of Britain's leading bone specialists is facing disciplinary action over accusations that he was involved in "ghost writing".

The wider phenomenon has come to light through documents disclosed in the US courts which have revealed a culture in which doctors agree to "author" studies written by employees of drug firms. The doctors may have some input but do not have access to all the evidence from the drug trial on which the paper's conclusions are based, the documents showed.

The General Medical Council will call Professor Richard Eastell in front of a fitness to practice committee. Eastell, a bone expert at Sheffield University, has admitted he allowed his name to go forward as first author of a study on an osteoporosis drug even though he did not have access to all the data on which the study's conclusions were based. An employee of Proctor and Gamble, the US company making Actonel, was the only author who had all the figures.

Experts believe the practice is widespread in Britain. In another alleged example, a consultant cardiologist claims an expert listed as an author on a medical paper died before the research began. Peter Wilmshurst, a heart specialist at the Royal Shrewsbury hospital, is involved in a dispute over a study which he helped design, which involved the insertion of a device to close a hole in the heart.

He claims the manufacturers refused him access to data and he had concerns about the accuracy of the paper, so he refused to sign it off and is not listed as an author. One of those who is named, Wilmshurst said, is a true ghost author. Anthony Rickards, a cardiologist, was involved in preliminary discussions but died before the research was conducted.

The company which sponsored the research, the US firm NMT Medical, is suing Wilmshurst for remarks in a lecture that he made about outcomes in the trial, which were published on a medical journal website. A UK charity, HealthWatch, has launched a fund to support Wilmshurst, who was in 2003 a recipient of its award for challenging misconduct in academic medical research.

The US documents show that Wyeth, one of the biggest companies involved, employed a medical writing agency with the purpose of getting favourable studies about its HRT drug Prempro into prestigious medical journals.

The agency dreamed up ideas for papers about the benefits of the drugs and then wrote an outline and even a first draft before offering it to a doctor who might agree to have his name attached as the author. Although the doctor would see drafts and revisions, critics say that control of the content and message were in the agency's hands. The memos and emails show that many busy academics signed their approval to the finished paper.

Many of the documents are records of planning meetings, where agency staff list articles that will be written, suggesting possible authors and targeting journals. Concern about ghostwriting caused the UK-based open-access journal PloS Medicine, part of the Public Library of Science, to intervene in a court case brought by women who claim they were harmed by the HRT drug. PloS Medicine, with the New York Times, argued that the public should know what was going on. A US judge agreed to place the documents in the public domain.

Ginny Barbour, editor in chief of PloS Medicine, said she was taken aback by the systematic approach of the agency. "I found these documents quite shocking," she said. "They lay out in a very methodical and detailed way how publication was planned. "Other documents released through US court action show that GlaxoSmithKline employed a ghostwriting programme named Caspper in which doctors could take credit for medical journal articles written by the company's consultants.

The project was aimed at boosting the US sales of an antidepressant called paroxetine, which goes by the brand name Paxil in the US and Seroxat in the UK.

Caspper stood for Case Study Publication for Peer Review. It enabled doctors with positive experiences of Paxil to get into medical journals. A busy doctor could sit back and let a medical writing agency paid by GSK do all their work, from the first draft to getting it accepted for publication by a journal.

The medical writing agency would prepare drafts using whatever material the doctor sent them and create figures and tables. These would go to the doctor for approval. "The author ensures accuracy of material, updates references, supplies missing information, etc," says the leaflet. Eventually the doctor would complete a sign-off form and the agency would send the paper for publication.

Caspper came to light when internal GlaxoSmithKline documents were released in court action in the US brought by the legal firm Baum Hedlund on behalf of patients who claim they were harmed by Paxil. GSK says the programme was discontinued some years ago and that the names of medical writers were included on any published papers.

But Caspper shows there was no dividing line at the time between science and marketing - the leaflet states its purpose is to "strengthen the product positioning and overcome competitive issues". Doctors and medical journals became part of a promotional campaign, aimed at selling more drugs.

The disciplinary move in the Eastell case comes after he admitted that a statement he signed declaring that all six authors had access to all the statistical data was wrong.

In a letter published in the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, which carried the original study, he stated: "In the original paper one of the authors, a statistician working for P & G, Ian Barton, had full access to all the data." The authors had full access to all the analyses of the data that they requested, he said – but those analyses were carried out by the company.

The letter, published in 2007, also acknowledged flaws in the study. A later ndependent analysis of the data "identified some errors and poor practice", he wrote. The study was designed to show the strengths of Actonel which was in fierce competition with a rival bone-strengthening drug called Fosamax, made by Merck.

Eastell's paper concerned a study carried out on behalf of Proctor and Gamble, comparing the bone density of women prescribed Actonel with others who were not. Only the company knew which women were on the drug and which were taking something else.

Eastell's colleague, Dr Aubrey Blumsohn, wanted the codes which would say which of the patients who suffered fractures had been on the drug. The company refused. Blumsohn took his concerns to Eastell, but in a conversation which Blumsohn says he taped, Eastell said he was concerned that persistent requests might damage the
relationship they had with the company. Eastell is said to have told him: "The only thing that we have to watch all the time is our relationship with P&G. Because … we have the big Sheffield Centre Grant [from P&G] which is a good source of income, we have got to really watch it." .

Tim Kendall, joint director of the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health, says the problem is the close relationship between doctors and the industry. "Some doctors don't seem to see the relationship … as problematic."

A study of 4,000 physicians found that 96% received money from drug companies, and yet "the majority did not see it as a conflict of interest", he said.

"I do think there needs to be a national debate in this country about the interpenetration of medicine and the pharmaceutical industry."

Ghost writing was one manifestation of a bigger problem which he believed was the institutional bias of doctors who work closely with and for drug companies. "In mental health 85% of all published trials are funded by the drug industry," he said. Allowing for the unsuccessful trials the industry does not publish, the figure is probably nearer 95%, he said.

Studies have shown that drug company-funded trials are five times more likely to come out with a positive result for the drug than independent trials.

The GMC is criticised by doctors like Wilmshurst and Blumsohn for failing to take a tougher line against doctors involved in dubious research practices.

Jane O'Brien, head of standards and ethics, said that their research guidance specified the importance of honesty in the attribution of authorship. "We would see that as an important issue. If somebody's name is on something it gives research a credibility that it wouldn't otherwise have. If somebody had not been involved, we would see that as misleading people as to the credibility of the research."

She added that the GMC felt it important to play a role in ensuring good conduct in research. About a year ago, she said, they took soundings of bodies that regulate and support research, such as the Medical Research Council, asking whether the GMC should be involved. "The response was yes, because we are the people who can strike doctors off in the end."

Eastell declined to discuss the hearing. "I do not wish to comment on the case. The proceedings have yet to commence," he told the Guardian in an email. A spokesperson from the University of Sheffield, where Eastell is professor of bone metabolism, said they were aware of the investigation. "We will be informed by the GMC of any outcome and cannot comment further until we receive this."
